Insurance News
|
In the summer of 2010 the Texas State Board of Insurance will raise the minimum limits of liability coverage needed on an Auto Policy. This is not bad news, as it will provide greater coverage for our customers. It will increase your Insurance cost, but very, very little. If you have any questions concerning this issue, please give our agency a call. 817-861-1977

Life Insurance and Saving

KEEPING HIS SPIRIT ALIVE
As a young insurance agent, Mark Wandall didn't need to be convinced to buy life insurance. But even Mark would be amazed at all that the insurance has meant for his wife, Melissa and for many other people he never met.
mark was just 30 when he was killed in an auto accident less than a mile from his Bradenton, FL., home. He was the passenger in a car that was broadsided by a driver who ran a red light. He died less than a week after celebrating his first wedding anniversary and just 19 days before the birth of his daughter, Madison Grace.
The life insurance has allowed Melissa to remain in the family home, take time off from her career so she can be a full-time mom, and put money into a college fund for Madison Grace.
The insurance has also given Melissa the opportunity to keep Mark's spirit alive through two important causes. She formed the Mark Wandall Foundation to raise money for worthy causes in her community. She also is the driving force behind a citizens' coalition pushing for a new state law, the Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act, that would stiffen criminal penalties for red-light running. "Melissa is making a difference in the community and in the state of Florida," says Joseph St. Onge, CHFC, who worked with Mark and was one of his closet friends.
Life insurance has provided Melissa with options that wouldn't otherwise have been available to a young, single mother. "Without it, I don't thing I would have the time or the energy to put into the foundation and the coalition," says Melissa. "It has allowed me to do these things and to be at home with my daughter."
Remember, the cost of procrastination grows higher the longer you wait.

Tip of the Quarter
|
Summer is here, and with it the extreme heat. Two things to be aware of. Keep your foundation and the soil around it moist. As the heat dries up the soil around your foundation, the foundation can shift easily, creating damage to pipes in and under your foundation, which can be a very costly repair. Second, make sure your sprinkler heads are correctly adjusted. Try not to water the sidewalk or driveway, wasting water.

Tom's Cooking Tips and Recipes
|
I love to cook but cooking a balance meal for the two of us can be a challenge. We are not fond of leftovers so here is one solution.
I call it "Meal in Foil"
No set quantities on ingredients and any combination of ingredients are allowed. this is our favorite combination.
2 pieces of aluminum foil 12" long. in the center of each piece of foil: 1/4 cup chopped onion, 3 or 4 frozen chicken tenders, a few thick slices of potato, 1/4 cup green beans, frozen or canned, a strip of bacon, pat of butter, salt and pepper. Fold each into a tight pouch, put on a cookie sheet and bake in the oven at 350 degrees. 1 hour if chicken is thawed, 11/2 hour if chicken is frozen. You can be very creative with ingredients and spices to suit your taste. We put the packet on a plate, open foil and eat from the packet.
